Hawaiʻi Island police have charged the remaining two persons who had been sought for fraudulent use of a credit card in Kona.
At 12:25 p.m. Tuesday (August 5), Luke Kaniaupio, 21, of Kailua-Kona was charged with burglary, criminal property damage, two counts of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, five counts of theft and three counts of fraudulent use of a credit card. His bail was set at $117,000. He was also charged with a no-bail charge of violating probation.
Leilani Parent, 26, of Kailua-Kona was charged with burglary, unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, ID theft, fraudulent use of a credit card, possessing unauthorized confidential personal information, attempted ID theft, forgery, attempted forgery, attempted theft and three counts of theft. Her bail was set at $147,000.
Both were being held at the Kona police cellblock pending their initial court appearance scheduled for Wednesday (August 6).
Kaniaupio and Parent were among the four people who had been sought for using a credit card after it was stolen from a car on Kuakini Highway on July 23. They were arrested Sunday (August 3).
The other two, 22-year-old Colvin Gaspar of Kailua-Kona and 39-year-old Theodore “Kahui†Casuga of Kailua-Kona, were arrested last week.
