On the East Rift Zone of Kīlauea Volcano, the June 27th flow from Puʻu ʻŌʻŠremained active. The farthest point on the steaming ground crack was 11.9 km (7.4 mi) from the vent.

Hawaiian Telcom restored service to more than 1,000 customers in the Puna District over the past two days, bringing the total number of customers out of service to about 500. Thousands of damaged wires needed to be spliced together.

As of Friday, August 29, 2014, the listed individuals are wanted by the Hawaii Police Department because of outstanding warrants. Persons who know a warrant is out for their arrest are advised to report to the nearest police station to avoid having an officer go to their home or workplace to arrest them.

Thanks to a tip to Crime Stoppers, HawaiÊ»i Island Police have located 41-year-old Steven Schwartz of Hilo, who was wanted for contempt of court and violating probation. He was arrested in Kamuela on Friday (August 29) and charged with those offenses. He was released after posting $2,150 bail. Police thank the public for their assistance. […]

Hawaiʻi Island Police are searching for a 29-year-old Waikoloa man wanted for violating probation. Kekoa Makana McKeague is described as 6-foot-1, 160 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Police ask anyone with information on his whereabouts to call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311.

The Aloha Exchange Club of East Hawaiʻi recognized Officer Dwight Walker on Thursday (August 28) as East Hawaiʻi “Officer of the Month†for August. Walker, a Puna Patrol officer, was honored for a theft investigation that led to the arrest of a man suspected of multiple crimes.
