Fire department crews spent Monday (June 9) searching for a 56-year-old fisherman, who fell into the ocean off MacKenzie State Park Friday evening, without any results.

Crews used a rescue boat, divers, helicopter and ground crews to search up to 1/2 mile offshore and along the shoreline from Pohoiki to Kaimu Beach. Divers searched the waters fronting Malama Flats where the man was last seen where he either fell or was swept into the ocean from cliffs about 10 feet high.

The search was called-off Monday due to darkness and will resume at first light Tuesday (June 10).
