Special hardware science event for keiki at eight Big Island libraries

MEDIA RELEASE

In celebration of the 2014 HSPLS Children’s Summer Reading Program, HouseMart Ace Hardware and HouseMart Ben Franklin Crafts will present “Hardware Science,” a free event at eight Big Island public libraries from Tuesday, June 3 through Wednesday, June 18.

Children ages 8 and older are invited to explore all things related to science and will learn some Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math (STEAM) concepts. In this one-hour program, children will learn how to think like a scientist and experience live science demonstrations using simple equipment and tools available at hardware and craft stores.

This year’s Children’s Summer Reading Program theme “Fizz, Boom, Read” will allow children – preschool-age to those entering grade 6 this fall – to experiment with building lava lamps, launching rockets and creating a solar system mobile.
