Kona burglaries, auto thefts (May 3-9)

Kona Community Policing staff compile a regular listing of burglaries and thefts in the West Hawaii community. This update covers May 3-9.

Burglaries

On May 5, in the 77-2900 block of Kalani Way, a woman reported that 2 ounces of medically prescribed marijuana were taken from within her residence without permission worth $600, but she got it for free.

On May 6, in the 82-6100 block of Mamalahoa Highway, a resident reported unknown suspect(s) entered the home through an opened window and removed a hard plastic rifle case containing a 22LR long rifle, AK47 assault rifle and unknown amount of ammunition.

UCPV – Unauthorized Control of a Propelled Vehicle (Stolen vehicle)

On May 5, between 4:30-10 p.m., in the 76-6100 block of Alii Drive, a man reported unknown parties removed his black 1991 Suzuki Kitana bearing license number 105 HNS, parked for sale along Alii Drive.

On May 7 in the 76-6300 block of Kuakini Highway, a vehicle that was for sale, license HLB 109, was reported stolen. Checks were made of the surrounding areas with negative results.

On May 7, in the 75-6000 block of Alii Drive, a PT Cruzr was reported removed from a parking lot by an unknown suspect(s) between 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. The vehicle was unlocked and the keys in the ignition.

On May 7, in the 82-6100 block of Mamalahoa Highway, a man reported unknown suspect(s) removed vehicle at approximately 11:30 p.m. May 6. He did not have any information relative to the vehicle other that it was an older model Toyota Tacoma with unknown plates. He would be recontacting officers when able to obtain further information.

UEMV – Unauthorized Entry into Motor Vehicle (Breaking into cars)

On May 3, between 1 a.m. and 6:15 a.m., in the 75-5600 block of Palani Road, unknown suspect(s) entered into a vehicle without permission and removed multiple items.

On May 6, between 1 a.m. and 7 p.m., in the 75-1000 block of Henry Street, an unknown person had entered into a vehicle, Combat Veteran 1423, while it was parked and unattended behind in a shopping center. Door was unlocked and windows rolled up. Total estimated value of items taken is $355.

On May 8, in the 77-6200 block of Mamalahoa Highway, unknown person(s) unlawfully entered a vehicle, license number HCT 798 and attempted to break the steering column. Forced entry was not present.
