Flood advisory issued for Big Island due to heavy rains in Waikoloa

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a flood advisory for the Big Island until 1:30 a.m. Sunday (June 1). At 10:13 p.m. weather radar showed heavy rain near Waikoloa Village. Opihi picker missing along Puna coastline since Thursday (May 29)

Fire/rescue crews responded to a 5:18 a.m. alarm Saturday (May 31) to Cape Kumukahi for the report of a missing Opihi picker. The missing picker was last seen between 1:30-2 p.m. on Thursday (May 29) in the area. Rescue crews used a helicopter, rescue boat and ground crews to search for the missing picker.

Military convoys from Pōhakuloa to Kawaihae Harbor, June 1-3, 2014

Oahu-based Marines will convoy from Pōhakuloa Training Area to Kawaihae Harbor, June 1-3, between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Convoys will use the Daniel K. Inouye Highway, Mamalahoa Highway, Waikoloa Road, Queen Kaahumanu, and Akoni Pule Corridor. Military police will escort the convoys.
