Pauahi Keiki Scholars applications due April 30

MEDIA RELEASE

The application deadline for Kamehameha Schools’ Pauahi Keiki Scholars cycle 1 preschool scholarship is April 30, 2014.

The Pauahi Keiki Scholars (PKS) program provides need-based scholarships for keiki who attend participating non-Kamehameha preschools.

Last year, Kamehameha Schools provided over $15 million to 2,341 Native Hawaiian children attending eligible preschools in their communities.

In addition, Kamehameha Schools serves over 1,500 keiki in 29 of its own preschools statewide.

In total, one in five children in licensed preschool programs in Hawaii is served or supported by Kamehameha Schools.

The PKS preschool scholarship program is open to keiki ages 3 years and older (must be born in 2009, 2010 or 2011) currently attending or planning to attend an eligible non-Kamehameha Schools preschool.

Applicants must be a state of Hawaii resident and eligibility is determined on an annual basis.

Find a list of the 134 preschools available statewide at http://apps.ksbe.edu/finaid/preschool/pauahi_keiki_scholars.

If parents miss the cycle 1 window of eligibility, they may apply for cycle 2, which includes funding from January – July 2015. The application deadline for cycle 2 is Sept. 30, 2014.

To apply for Pauahi Keiki Scholars, visit www.ksbe.edu/finaid or call (808) 534-8080.

Kamehameha Schools’ policy is to give preference to applicants of Hawaiian ancestry to the extent permitted by law.
