More:

Keaau students will be wearing Google Glass to allow other viewers to see the experience through their eyes. A discussion with Matt Patrick, a research geologist with the U.S. Geological Survey at the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory, will kick off the field trip.

Before the Keaau students descend into the crater for a guided hike, all participating students at their respective locations will recite a Hawaiian chant in honor of the volcano goddess Pele.

The chant, E Pele E, was shared by Nanakuli Elementary Immersion Students via a recording so all the students could learn it prior to the Virtual Field Trip (VFT).

The classrooms and the public will be able to engage in the field trip via the Google Hangout.

The field trip will be in part broadcast from the students’-eye view via the “Grab & Go Glassroom” — a wired pack projecting a feed from the students’ Google Glass view into a Livestream.
