“The Land of Ebâ€, a feature film produced entirely on the Big Island of Hawaii was picked up by a distributor and was released worldwide February 25th on digital platforms including iTunes and Google Play.
The film is loosely based on local Marshallese immigrant Jonithen Jackson, who also plays the lead. His poignant story, reflecting the diversity and unique beauty of Hawaii is being embraced by film communities far and wide.
The Land of Eb premiered at Toronto International Film festival, one of the top in the World, and went on to screen in a number of other major festivals including Hawaii, Chicago and Fiji to name a few. It will finally be available through a number of major video on demand services later this month.
“It’s been a long road, but we knew we had a story people would connect with and that it would eventually find it’s audience†says Andrew Williamson, the director of the film. “We’ve had numerous requests here in Hawaii and elsewhere to screen the film especially from educators and social activist groups. It’s having a positive impact in our community way beyond what we originally imagined.â€
The Land of Eb, a lyrical, eye-opening work is truly Hawaiian at it’s most diverse and will now be available for all to see. Alongside its digital release, the DVD, which includes extra content about the making of the film, will also be available for purchase on the film’s website, www.thelandofeb.com
