MEDIA RELEASE
Summer is a time for students to experience new learning opportunities, make new friends and enjoy educational experiences.
The application window for Kamehameha Schools’ summer programs closes Feb. 15.
Parents and caregivers should plan now and apply their child for one of the three Explorations Series programs and/or Summer School programs at the Kapalama or Hawaii campus.
The Explorations Series is comprised of three different summer boarding programs (Hoomakaikai, Hoolauna and Kulia I Ka Pono), each targeted at specific grade levels. Each programs offers an opportunity for haumana (students) to turn summer into an adventure, with activities and huakai (field trips) designed to introduce and expand upon Hawaiian cultural traditions and knowledge. Programs take place in a variety of locations throughout Hawaii.
The program is open to students who are currently in grades 5-8 and who do not attend a Kamehameha Schools K-12 campus program. Students from Hawaii, the continental United States and throughout the world are eligible to apply and attend these programs.
Each program is a week-long and take place over six consecutive weeks from June 8 – July 19.
Kula Kauwela/Summer School programs are offered at both the Hawaii and KapÄlama campuses for students in grades K-12. Summer school offers a number of enriching program options to keep students engaged in learning throughout the year.
For high school students, summer school is also an opportunity to earn credits and better prepare for the upcoming school year.
Both summer school programs have a limited number of seats available for both current and non-Kamehameha campus students. Hawaii Kula Kauwela courses will take place from June 12 to July 10. Kapalama Summer School will run from June 9 through July 18.
Parents and caregivers should note the earlier application deadline this year of Feb. 15, though applicants are encouraged to complete and turn in applications as soon as possible.
For preferred options of dates, locations and/or course availability, applicants should complete and submit their application as soon as possible.

I am interested with registering my sons to the summer school exploration. I have tried to call and left a message but no response until now. I don’t see an online application and is new to the program. How can I get some help with registering my child to experience going to an exploration summer program rather than going to a daycare.
