Gabbard attending mandatory annual National Guard training

MEDIA RELEASE

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard reported Friday to Fort Leonard Wood for two weeks of mandatory annual Army National Guard training.

While Gabbard, a military police captain, is in Missouri, her staff in Hawaii and Washington D.C. will continue regular duties and constituent services, spokeswoman Heather Fluit said.

Gabbard will resume congressional duties Jan. 17, when she returns to Hawaii for her scheduled district work period, Fluit said.

Elected in 2012, Gabbard represents the Second Congressional District, which includes the Big Island.

Gabbard has served in the Hawaii Army National Guard since 2004 and voluntarily deployed to Iraq twice.
