Marshall Tucker Band to play Kona (Jan. 10)

Kona Brewing Company is excited to bring back live music concerts to their Brewhouse Oasis, welcoming classic country legend The Marshall Tucker Band in January 2014.

The four island Hawaii tour, sponsored by Kona Brewing, will feature a rich tradition of classic Southern country rock, with a setlist including such favorites as “Heard It In a Love Song,” “Fire On The Mountain,” “Can’t You See,” and “Take The Highway,” led by the band’s founding member and lead singer Doug Gray.

Formed in Spartanburg, N.C., The Marshall Tucker Band has earned seven gold albums and three platinum albums.

Contrary to popular belief, the band is not named after a member, but is in fact named after a local piano tuner whose name the band members saw gracing the key of their studio rehearsal space. “Marshall Tucker” was the name of the tuner, and that became the name of the band when it formed in the early 1970’s.

“We’ve got a lot of fans in Hawaii and we’re really looking forward to getting back to the aloha lifestyle, and of course some Liquid Aloha,” Gray said. “The audience will hear us play everything from country, blues, rock and all things in between. And as we’ve become older, our Southern heritage seems to come out even more. But no matter how old we get, we can still rock your socks off.”

Show dates for The Marshall Tucker Band tour in Hawaii are as follows:

* Oahu – Wednesday, Jan. 8, 8 p.m.
Crossroads at Hawaiian Brian’s
