MEDIA RELEASE
Subaru Hawaii sponsors the third year of its community-based “Share the Love†sales event where it will donate $250, up to $30,000, for every new 2014 Subaru vehicle sold through Dec. 31, 2013 to a hui of nonprofit organizations, including Big Island’s Hawaii Island Humane Society, American Red Cross – Hawaii Chapter, and Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawaii.
In addition to buying a Subaru during the promotional period, the public is encouraged to visit Subaru Hawaii’s Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/SubaruHI and vote for their favorite participating nonprofit.
Subaru Hawaii will award an additional $5,000 to the organization that receives the most “likes†at the end of the sales event period.
“We are thrilled to partner with our returning and new nonprofits for the 2013 Share the Love sales event,†said Glenn Inouye, Senior Vice President, Servco representing the Subaru Hawaii Dealers. “This special promotion is truly a win-win for our Subaru Hawaii owners, customers and the Big Island community.â€
“We’re excited to participate in Subaru Hawaii’s Share the Love event once again,†said Hawaii Island Humane Society executive director Donna Whitaker. “Even with increased educational outreach to encourage pet owners to spay and neuter their pets we are still faced with thousands of animals turned in to our island shelters each year. These funds help support our outreach programs.â€
“We are so excited to be part of the Share the Love campaign again this year,†said Holly Brown, director of development and marketing of Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawaii. “Last year
Subaru Hawaii customers helped Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawaii make a real difference to Hawaii youth by matching more children facing adversity with volunteer mentors. We can’t wait to make an even bigger impact this year.â€
“We are incredibly grateful to Subaru Hawaii for giving their customers an opportunity to support our humanitarian mission of saving lives and giving hope to those in need,†said Coralie Matayoshi, chief executive officer of the American Red Cross, Hawaii State Chapter. “We are excited about this opportunity for Subaru Hawaii customers to support the cause of humanity by purchasing a car or voting for the Red Cross on Facebook.â€
In addition to its monetary donation, the Subaru Dealers of Hilo Subaru and Kona Subaru invite the public on the Big Island to attend “Share the Love†day 11 a.m-2 p.m. Dec. 7.
Adopt A Pet, Pet Food and Pet Care Supplies Drive and Pet Services
During the event, Hawaii Island Humane Society will have dogs and kittens looking for loving homes. A $25 Petco gift card and bag of Ilio Dentals Teeth Treat is included with every adoption and adoption fees are waived for current Subaru owners or for those that purchase a vehicle during the event.
The public also is encouraged to “Share the Love†and stop by to donate pet care supplies such as bleach, cat litter, dish soap, paper towels, trash bags, old linens (towels, blankets and sheets), pet food and/or treats.
New this year, the Hawaii Island Humane Society will offer a variety of services for pets, including pet nail trims and pet microchip services. Proceeds will be donated to Hawaii Island Humane Society.
“The funds we gratefully receive from Subaru Hawaii’s Share the Love program helps Hawaii Island Humane Society offer many pets a second chance at finding a loving home,†Whitaker said. “The Share the Love donation also helps us step up efforts to educate our community on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets.â€
