Kailua Kalikimaka festivities (Nov. 29)


Kailua Village begins its holiday season with the traditional lighting of the Christmas tree at 5:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29 at Emma’s Square.

Special Holiday Events in Historic Kailua Village:

Saturday, Dec. 7 – Christmas at Hulihee Palace

Habitat for Humanity West Hawaii and Daughters of Hawaii host the 4th Annual Christmas at Hulihee Palace on Saturday, Dec. 7 beginning at 5:30 p.m.

There will be holiday dining on the palace lawn, live and silent auctions, entertainment by the Kealakehe Intermediate School Chorus and Ukulele Ensemble, and Na Hoku Hanohano Award winner and Kihoalu (slack key) artist, Donald Kaulia and friends.

Proceeds from the benefit help build simple, decent, affordable homes in West Hawaii for families with limited income, and help with on-going restoration and preservation efforts at Hulihee Palace.

Saturday, Dec. 7 – Kona Commons Free Movie Night

KVBID sponsors Kona Commons’ holiday revelry with Kailua Kalikimaka Dinner and Free Movie night on Saturday, Dec. 7. The event begins at 5:00 p.m.

There will be free pictures with Santa, entertainment by KAPA radio, and prizes throughout the evening.

The movie, “Elf” starring Will Ferrell, begins at 6:45 p.m. Bring your own beach chairs or mat, pick-up dinner to go from any of Kona Commons’ delicious food outlets, then sit back and enjoy “Elf” from the big screen that will be set up just for the evening.

Saturday, Dec. 14 – Community Christmas Parade

Kona Kine Christmas is the theme for the 29th Annual Kailua-Kona Community Christmas Parade, which begins at 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14.

The parade is presented by the Rotary and Lions Clubs of Kona.
