Mamalahoa Highway was reopened to traffic about noon Tuesday.
The Hawaii Fire Department reports that crews continue to fight the brush fire in the area of the 14 mile marker of Highway 190. The fire is located just south or Kona side of the Highway 190 and Saddle Road junction and is situated on the east or mauka side of the highway.
No homes or property are threatened at this time. Emergency crews are on scene.
Highway 190 has been reopened to traffic however motorists are advised to exercise caution as emergency vehicles and personnel are operating in the area.

Mamalahoa Highway is closed near the Kona-side intersection of Daniel K. Inouye Highway due to a brush fire.
County authorities closed the highway near mile marker 15 Monday afternoon and the road will be closed until further notice.
Traffic heading north on Mamalahoa is being detoured to Queen Kaahumanu Highway via Kaiminani Drive. Southbound traffic is detoured via Waikoloa Road and the old Saddle Road.
Police and fire crews are on the scene and the blaze had devoured 40 acres at last report.
No structures are threatened and no injuries have been reported.
