MEDIA RELEASE

* 7th Annual Celebration of E Mau Ana Ka Hula – The Hula Is Perpetuated
8 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16
Sheraton Kona Resort & Spa at Keauhou Bay

King David Kalakaua: “Hula is the Language of the heart and therefore the heartbeat of the Hawaiian People.”

On this special occasion, we pay tribute to the “Merrie Monarch” King David Kalakaua, with a celebration of hula held at the Sheraton Kona Resort & Spa at Keauhou Bay.

Kumu Hula and students from across the Hawaiian Islands, Japan, and Europe will present their art of style and tradition of hula with either hula kahiko (ancient) or hula auana (modern) styles of dance.

Each school will showcase the best integrity and quality of traditional hula steps, expressions, creativity, and adornments with costumes and stories that support the hula traditions.

Local arts and crafts vendors will be featuring quality handmade Hawaiian items, and ono food will be available too! Admission is free, so bring the family and join us to share in the joy of hula.

On Friday, Nov. 15 and Saturday, Nov. 16, hula workshops will be held featuring several of the presenting Kumu Hula.

Everyone is welcome to attend.
