Road resurfacing Puna side streets underway

The county Highway Maintenance Division began resurfacing four side streets off Kahakai Boulevard Wednesday morning.

Roadwork on Palani, Opihi, Opelu streets starting from North Puni Lani, and one-half of North Puni Lani is underway and will continue for two days.

On Nov. 8, road resurfacing resumes on Palani, Opihi, and Opelu Streets from Kahakai Blvd and ending at N. Puni Paka Loop. Completion for this section is scheduled the same day

Roadwork continues Tuesday, Nov. 12 on Palani, Opihi and Opelu Streets. It begins at Puni Paka. Completion is expected that day.

The remainder of Palani and Opihi Streets to Puni Kahakai will be completed Nov. 13. On Nov. 14, Opelu St. starting from N. Puni Kahakai will be completed.

Motorists should plan on alternate routes to avoid delays due to partial lane closures during road resurfacing.

Roadwork will be between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays, excluding the holiday, Veteran’s Day on Nov. 11.

Depending on weather and equipment, this schedule may change without notice and could delay completion, which is scheduled for Nov. 14.
