Daylight savings time ends

Hawaii 24/7 Staff

Most Americans get an extra hour of sleep Sunday morning as daylight savings time ends and standard time returns.

The change officially occurs at 2 a.m. Sunday for most of the mainland.

Hawaii, however, is among the places that doesn’t change its clocks, so don’t worry about staying up late to make the adjustment.

Public safety officials routinely use the switch to remind people to put a new battery in the smoke alarm.

Daylight saving time returns at 2 a.m. local time March 9, 2014.
