Konawaena girls volleyball team came out on top Friday evening in an all-Big Island Division II championship match up, downing HPA in four sets.
In the consolation bracket, Pahoa won eighth place.
No Big Island team has won the Division II title since its inception in 2005. The last state champion was Hilo in 1974.
Meanwhile, in Division I, Kamehameha Schools Kapalama beat Punahou to take the state title.
The top Big Island team in Division I was Kamehemeha Schools Hawaii, which placed sixth. Also in Division I, Hilo earned seventh place.
