2014 Championship at Hualalai tickets on sale

MEDIA RELEASE

With the start of the holiday shopping season just around the corner, tournament officials have announced that tickets for 2014 Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai are currently on sale to the general public.

Featuring a prestigious line-up of some of the world’s most decorated players, the Champions Tour’s season-opening event is set to return Jan. 15-19, 2014 to the Jack Nicklaus-designed Hualalai Golf Course at the Four Seasons Resort.

Weekly grounds tickets are available in advance for $25 and a one day grounds pass is $15. Youth 18 and under are admitted free with a ticketed adult.

Entering its 18th year on the Big Island, the Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai is the first event in the annual Charles Schwab Cup race and will feature a field comprised of 2012 and 2013 tournament champions, winners of Champions Tour majors from the past five years and special tournament invitees.

Players eligible for the 2014 tournament thus far include Mark Calcavecchia, Fred Couples, Bernhard Langer, Tom Lehman, Rocco Mediate, Mark O’Meara, Corey Pavin, Kenny Perry, Craig Stadler, Tom Watson and over two dozen others.

The 54-hole event offers a $1.8 million purse.

Last year, John Cook sank a 12-foot birdie putt on the second playoff hole to defeat David Frost and win the Mitsubishi Electric Championship for the second time. Cook, who played all 54 holes in regulation without a bogey, and then birdied the two playoff holes, also won the 2011 tournament.

The Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai will air live 2:30-5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17 through Sunday, Jan. 19 on the Golf Channel. All times are local and subject to change.
