Gabbard visits Kealakehe High School, HPA

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard visited with Big Island students and educators Monday to highlight educational opportunities.

She congratulated Kealakehe High School’s Robotics Team for its recent successes at the 2013 MATE International ROV Competition.

Then, she taught a history class at the high school as the first event in her “Undercover Congresswoman” series.

Monday afternoon, Gabbard toured the Energy Lab at Hawaii Preparatory Academy to learn about their exciting initiatives to monitor seismic activity, duplicate DNA, and conduct energy audits of local businesses.

And finally, she wrapped up the evening on Hawaii Island with the Kohala Coast Resort Association and the Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce to discuss ideas that will improve the economy and infrastructure of the area.

Gabbard started her day on Oahu and delivered a speech to the Honolulu-Pacific Federal Executive Board Diversity Council at a seminar in honor of “Women’s Equality Day.”

She shared personal experiences, spoke about how gratifying one’s work can be when executed for the purpose of serving others, and gave insight on how to achieve success and overcome challenges that are unique to women.
