The National MS Society to hold fifth annual bike MS ride

MEDIA RELEASE

The fifth annual Bike MS: Go BIG or Go Home event will take place August 3 to 3, 2013 in Waikoloa. The age minimum for this event is 16 years old with a chaperone and anyone over 18 can enjoy the ride unaccompanied.

The ride is another way that people can “Join the Movement.” Its focus is to bring more awareness about MS to Hawaii and to raise funds for programs and services for those living with MS in Hawaii.

There is a registration fee of $30 and a fundraising minimum of $300. This Bike MS event is split into a two day ride completing 115 miles of the Iron Man Triathlon Bike route, taking riders through volcanic rock landscapes, breathtaking ocean views, paniolo ranches, and historical towns reminiscent of old Hawai’i.

On day one riders head 65 miles north and on day two, 50 miles south. There will be rest stops approximately 7-11 miles along the way where, if needed, riders can turn around by catching a ride in one of the SAG vehicles present.

The Presenting Sponsor, Hilton Waikoloa Village, will provide discount group rates of $159 to Bike MS: Go BIG or Go Home participants. Whether coming from near or far, we have great partners with transportation for participants as well as their bikes!

If coming from the islands, go! Airlines will be offering a great low fare and will bring your bike to Kona for free!

If arriving from the mainland, participants can enjoy 5% off whichever flight they choose from a new sponsor, Alaska Airlines!
