Hawaiian to expand Oakland services

Hawaiian Airlines is answering growing demand and giving San Francisco Bay Area travelers more options, more flexibility and more of a reason to visit the Hawaiian Islands with an expanded schedule and new direct flights into two other islands.

Beginning Jan. 5, 2014, Hawaiian Airlines will offer daily service between Oakland and Honolulu, increasing its flights from four times a week, boosting total air seats to Oahu by 75 percent. Daily service between Oakland and Kahului, Maui will continue as scheduled.

In addition, Hawaiian Airlines will start new annual summer service between Oakland and LÄ«hue, Kauai three times a week, and Oakland and Kona four times a week starting in 2014 from June 14 to Aug. 15, adding a total of 18,200 seats to both island travel markets over 10 weeks of service.

“We want to give travelers in the greater Bay Area even more reason to start dreaming about getting away to our beautiful islands and all there is to enjoy,” said Peter Ingram, Hawaiian Airlines executive vice president and chief commercial officer. “We are also pleased to support Kauai and Hawaii Island’s visitor industries during peak summer season starting next year and also offer our island residents convenient, direct service to the Bay Area.”

The new expanded schedule and service allows Bay Area travelers the option of a dual-destination vacation with a free stopover in Oahu before continuing on to Hawaiian Airlines’ South Pacific gateways, such as Sydney, Brisbane and Auckland.

South Pacific travelers can also connect in Honolulu to enjoy a few nights in the islands before heading to the San Francisco Bay Area through Oakland, the convenient, centrally located gateway to everything the Bay Area has to offer, such as Napa Valley’s finest restaurants and wineries.

Daily Oahu and Maui Schedule

Daily service between Oakland and Honolulu will commence Jan. 5, 2014. Additional flights on the route may also be available in early December 2013 based on aircraft availability. Maui’s daily service between Oakland and Kahului will continue with slightly adjusted times beginning in January.

Hawaii Island and Kauai Summer Schedule

The seasonal summer service between Oakland and Hawaii Island and Kauai will operate for 10 weeks until Aug. 15, 2014 and will resume the following year.

Hawaiian Airlines is the only carrier serving Hawaii to offer complimentary meals in Economy Class. In addition, travelers flying between Oakland and the Hawaiian Islands can relax and enjoy the comfort and roominess of Hawaiian Airlines’ wide-body, twin-aisle Boeing 767-300ER aircraft, seating 264 passengers in a two-class cabin, with 18 in First Class and 246 in the Main Cabin.

Adding to the enjoyment of the travel experience on Hawaiian Airlines is the carrier’s signature onboard hospitality program, Mea Hookipa (translation: I am host). Travelers will enjoy island-style complimentary meals and made-in-Hawaii snacks to go along with Hawaiian Airlines’ engaging presentation of the islands’ culture, people and Aloha Spirit throughout the flight.
