Throughout the afternoon, the Congresswoman discussed significant reforms to healthcare, learned about the issues challenging hospice care, and presented Hospice of Hilo a certificate of excellence.

During the tour, Gabbard was invited to visit a patient who was very excited to see her. During the visit, the two held hands and talked about the wonderful care and amenities offered to the patient in the care center.

The patient said with glistening eyes, “I am so proud of what you are doing Congresswoman Gabbard,” and in return, Gabbard thanked the patient for her encouragement and trust.

Hospice of Hilo CEO, Brenda S. Ho, was presented a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition for the exception care and outstanding community service provided by the organization.

“It is an honor to recognize Hospice of Hilo for their community involvement,” Gabbard said. “This facility is truly a model for the exceptional care offered to our citizens. Thank you for helping families in their time of need.”
