Kealakekua summer reading program (June 3-July 6)

The Kealakekua Public Library sponsors its summer reading program “Dig Into Reading” from June 3 to July 6 with special free events lined up for June.

There will be craft and special programs for all ages, with prizes for reading books. Kids can enter to win a $20 Dairy Queen gift card, teens entering seventh grade in the fall of 2013 can enter to win an IPOD Shuffle, and adults can win a Tablet.

The scheduled events include:

* June 5 at 5:30 p.m. Kids’ Plaster Fossils, 8 years and older

* June 8 at 11 a.m. Bean Planting/MUDD Snack, 5 years and older

* June 12 at 5:30 p.m. Beaded Bugs, 12 years and older

* June 15 at 11 a.m. Ikebana for Teens and Adults

* June 19 at 5:30 p.m. Rice Paper Wall Art for Adults

* June 21 at 3 p.m. Butterfly Masks for 8 years and older

* June 22 at 11 a.m. Face Painting for 5 years and older

* June 26 at 5:30 p.m. Gardening Feng Shui for Adults

* June 29 at 11 a.m. Dave Del Rocco storyteller, 5-12 years

All programs run about one hour, and all children 5 years or younger must be accompanied by a parent. If you need a sign language interpreter or other accommodation for the listed programs please contact the library three weeks in advance if possible.

The Kealakekua Library is open noon-4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Friday, 2-7 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday. It is closed Thursdays and Sundays and July 11 for Kamehameha Day.
