Judo: State titles for Nakamura, Shiraki

Two Big Island athletes earned state titles in judo at the championships over the weekend on Oahu.

The Konawaena girls team also earned a fifth place finish.

Individual state titles went to Lia Nakamura of Hilo at 172 lbs. and Aimee Shiraki of Konawaena at 220 lbs.

In addition, Skye Matsuura of Waiakea earned second place at 129 lbs.

Meanwhile, the Big Island boys were not as successful. The top team was Waiakea, which came in 12th place.

Haaheo Chan of Keaau earned the lone top three place in the 198 lbs. division.
