Wind advisory for Big Island summits until Tuesday

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a wind advisory for the summits of Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea above 8,000 feet until 6 a.m. Tuesday (April 23).

Winds are forecast to be in the 25-35 mph range with gusts over 50 mph.

The strong winds can send trees, branches and other objects into roadways. These winds can make driving difficult especially for high profile vehicles. Motorists should use caution while driving.
