County scrap metal receiving areas to close

MEDIA RELEASE

The scrap metal receiving areas located at the HiIo Transfer Station and the Kealakehe Transfer Station will close Thursday, March 28.

A scrap metal bin will be made available at the Hilo Transfer Station and the Kealakehe Transfer Station for acceptance of residential loads only.

Those with motor vehicles and commercial loads are advised to seek an alternate drop-off location.

For motor vehicle disposal, check Yellow Pages for businesses offering junk car removal/pick up.

Also, there are several private businesses that might pay for scrap metal:

WEST HAWAII

7 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday; 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturdays

Accepts aluminum, copper, bronze, stainless steel, brass and other non-ferrous metals

9 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday
1260 Kilauea St., Hilo

Scrap metal value may be paid for materials accepted.
