Fire/rescue crews responded to an 11:14 a.m. alarm Monday (March 18) to an overdue hiker in the Hawaiian Paradise Park area of Puna.
The hiker, a 36-year-old man, was last seen by his father entering the forest area off 11th Avenue off Kaloli Drive at 10 a.m. on Saturday (March 16).
The man was found Monday by family members using hunting dogs and brought him back to the trail head. The man was treated by medics for dehydration, minor cuts and scrapes and taken to Hilo Medical Center for further evaluation.
