Police to step-up DUI checkpoints during St. Patrick’s Day weekend

MEDIA RELEASE

The Hawaiʻi Police Department is informing motorists that police will conduct island-wide DUI checkpoints during the St. Patrick’s Day weekend. The effort is part of a national and statewide campaign called “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.” Additionally, Hawaiʻi Island police will continue enforcement of illegal drinking in public parks during the week of Spring Break (March 18-24) in an effort to curb drinking and driving.

The Department’s Traffic Services Section invites the public to participate in a sign-waving event on Friday, March 15, 2013, at 3:30 p.m. on Kamehameha Avenue in Hilo to remind motorist about the dangers of drinking and driving.
