Parker School will host Kahiau, its 8th annual auction gala on March 2 at the Fairmont Orchid. All proceeds from the event go to financial aid at the school.

The Hawaiian word kahiau means “to give generously from the heart,” and every year Parker puts on the gala so people can come together in a fun way to bid and give to help provide educational opportunities for West Hawaii children.

Attendees will enjoy a sit-down dinner, and have the opportunity to bid on hundreds of exciting silent and live auction items, including a helicopter trip to Niihau, a white water rafting trip on the South Fork of the American River, an Alaskan cruise, a five-night stay at the Four Seasons Bora Bora, original paintings by Martha Greenwell and Gary Ackerman, jewelry, health and spa packages, fine dining experiences, and much more.

Guests can also participate in activities such as “First Bidder Frenzy” in which they will have the opportunity to win an overnight stay at the Four Seasons Hualalai, and “Bubbly & Bling,” for the chance to receive a custom-made elegant pendant necklace by Simply for Fun jewelry company.

Parker School was established in 1976 in Waimea and its mission is to provide an excellent college preparatory experience in a small-school setting where students develop academically while exploring their individual talents.

More than 50 percent of the 250 kindergarten through 12th grade students at Parker receive some form of financial assistance, and Kahiau, the school’s largest fundraiser of the year, is key in making this possible.
