The 18th annual culinary benefit for the ACF Kona Kohala Chapter Chef & Child Program, founded by hospitality consultant and former Hawaii Community College professor Jean Hull, drew hundreds of foodies to Waikoloa Resort.

The Palamanui Culinary Arts program is sponsored by American Culinary Foundation. Proceeds from this event go toward equipping a full kitchen for students.

The event delivers nutrition awareness programs to keiki & benefits school garden initiatives. Imagine children able to make better food choices giving them “a gift that lasts a life time,” as well as an interest in the culinary arts.

The event included a brushetta buffet and omelet station displayed by first and second year students. Pastry chefs inspired innovative ideas from greek yogurt cheesecake to avocado cocoa mousse, with featured items such as Hawaiian coffee from Homestead farms, Kombuchu (fermented drink made from mushrooms), from Captain Cook, to Mauna Kea Tea Co. grown on the Hamakua coast and assortment of beer and wines.

The event also included a silent auction.

The event only happens once a year, and the culinary experience is a special event for family and friends. Mark this on your calendar for next year, sometime around Valentine’s day.
