Fire/rescue crews responded to a 7:26 p.m. alarm Thursday (Feb 7) to a home along Keaau-Pahoa Road (Hwy 130) near Makuu Drive for a structure fire.
Crews found a 1,056 square foot home on fire in the rear area. The fire was confined to three rooms and a hallway area. Two people were in the home and escaped unharmed.
Firefighters were able to have the fire under control by 7:47 p.m. and out by 8:17 p.m.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. A witness on the scene reported candles being use in the home may have caused the fire.
