Search for missing diver off Honaunau ends

The search concluded Sunday (Feb 3) for a missing diver off the coast of Puuhonua O Honaunau National Historical Park.

The missing diver was reported to be Jeremiah Nathan of Kealakekua. Nathan was last seen on Wednesday (Jan 30) at the park at about 4 p.m. His keys, wallet and cellphone were found in his truck at the park.

The Hawaii County Fire Department’s Chopper One, rescue boat and ground personnel searched a mile North and South of Nathan’s last known location with the shoreline search extending to Hookena. The aerial search extended from Hookena to Kealakekua and 1/4 mile offshore.

Nathan is described as Caucasian, 5-foot-10, 150 pounds, green eyes, short brown hair and has a tattoo across his chest with Arabic-like lettering.

Police ask anyone with information on his whereabouts to call Officer Bradden Kimura of Kona Patrol at (808) 326-4646, extension 253. Callers may also call the Police Department’s non-emergency number at 935-3311.
