By Hawaii 24/7 Staff

Fire/rescue crews responded to an 8:24 p.m. alarm Thursday (Jan 31) to the shoreline fronting Puuhonua O Honaunau National Historical Park for a report of a missing diver.

A person reported that the diver missed an 8 p.m. flight to the mainland Thursday. The diver had said he planned to go diving fronting Puuhonua O Honaunau on Wednesday (Jan 30). The person found his diver friend’s truck at the entrance to the park with his wallet and cellphone in the truck but dive gear missing.

Rescue crews did a shoreline search in the park while Chopper Two did an aerial search a mile North and South of the park. The search was called off due to darkness and has resumed at daybreak Friday (Feb 1).
