DUI stats for the week of January 14-20, 2013

During the week of January 14, 2013, through January 20, 2013, Hawaiʻi Island police arrested 24 motorists for drunk driving. Nine of the drivers were involved in traffic crashes. Two were under the age of 21.

So far this year, there have been 68 DUI arrests compared with 67 during the same period last year, an increase of 1.5 percent. The numbers of arrests by district were:

There have been 63 major accidents so far this year compared with 76 during the same period last year, a decrease of 17.1 percent.

So far this year, there were two traffic fatality on Hawaiʻi Island compared with none during the same period last year.

DUI roadblocks and patrols will continue island wide.
