The National Weather Service in Honolulu has extended a wind advisory until 6 p.m. Wednesday (Jan 16) for the summits of Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea above 8,000 feet.
An upper level trough passing East of the state will produce strong Westerly winds through the night of 25-35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.
Winds this strong can make driving difficult especially for high profile vehicles. Motorists should use caution on summit roadways.
