High surf advisory continues for Kona-Kohala Coast

By Hawaii 24/7 Staff

A high surf advisory remains in effect until 6 p.m. Monday (Dec 31) for West facing shores of the Big Island.

Surf is forecast to be six to ten feet tonight through Monday along the Kona-Kohala Coast. The large breaking waves will cause hazardous conditions in the surf zone including deadly rip currents.

Beachgoers are urged to stay out of the water due to hazardous shore breaks and wave action.

A small craft advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. Monday (Dec 31) for all Hawaiian waters except for Maalaea Bay.
