Aloha Air Cargo, Family Programs Hawaii support children

MEDIA RELEASE

Aloha Air Cargo and Family Programs Hawaii announced a new partnership that assists the prevention of children from entering foster care, supports children and families already involved in the foster care system, and helps youths successfully transition out of foster care.

Just in time for the holidays, Aloha Air Cargo is providing much needed monetary sponsorship and awareness for FPH’s various programs by rallying the Hawaii community around a very simple, yet powerful message, “I help kids.”

“Our goal at Family Programs Hawaii has always been to provide quality care to the children of Hawaii,” said FPH Director of Development, Connie Sizemore. “Partnering with Aloha has given us additional resources to acquire more volunteers, utilize their shipping network for movement of supplies and toys for neighbor island foster kids, and relaunch the ‘I help kids’ program shirts to spread the message of our organization.”

Family Programs Hawaii is one of several organizations that Aloha Air Cargo supports through volunteerism, sweat equity, and assisting via in-kind cargo shipping.

The ongoing partnership extends through 2013 and beyond, where Aloha will continue to provide assistance for various FPH events across a variety of their major programs.

“Being a close-knit ohana drives our passion for the communities we live and work within, and the families that make up those communities,” said Aloha Chief Operating Officer, Pat Rosa. “In Hawaii, our children really are our most valuable resource. The social services provided by Family Programs Hawaii are so vital to the future of our youth; we want to ensure we’re doing our part to advance their efforts.”

Headquartered in Honolulu, Aloha Air Cargo delivers fast, economical and reliable transport of goods between Oahu, Maui, Kauai and Hawaii Island. It became an independent cargo operator after the closure of Aloha Airlines passenger services in May 2008.

Aloha Tech Ops is a division of Aloha Air Cargo and provides maintenance and engineering services to airlines in the State of Hawaii.

Aloha Air Cargo is owned by Seattle-based Saltchuk Resources, which has been doing business in Hawaii since 2000 when it acquired Young Brothers/Hawaiian Tug & Barge.

Committed to the welfare of Hawaii and strengthening the local economy, the company also acquired Hawaii Fuel Network, Maui Petroleum and Minit Stop Stores in 2006.

Family Programs Hawaii is a local human service agency dedicated to protecting children and breaking the cycle of abuse. Family Programs Hawaii serves nearly 4,000 children and families involved in the child welfare system.
