About 1,000 HELCO customers experience power outage Sunday (Dec 16)

Hawaii Electric Light Company (HELCO) has announced that HELCO customers are currently experiencing a power outage in the Pahala and Naalehu areas affecting approximately 1,000 customers. Our linemen and technicians are currently investigating the cause of the problem and we do not yet have an estimate for what the duration of this outage will be.

HELCO apologizes for any inconvenience you are experiencing and HELCO is working to restore power as quickly as possible. When an estimated restoration time is known HELCO will update this press release.

Hawaii Electric Light Company (HELCO) previously announced that HELCO customers in Pahala and Naalehu areas experienced a power outage. HELCO crews have identified an issue in our Punaluu substation and are working to address the issue. Switching has been performed and all customers have been restored as of 12:45 p.m.

HELCO apologizes for any inconvenience that may have been caused by this event.
