Hawaii Island Hoops ‘Committed to the Community’ upgrade project

MEDIA RELEASE

Kailua-Kona – Hawaii Island Hoops, a local 501 C-3 non-profit organization announces today its “Committed to the Community” Upgrade Project.

The fundraising goal is a modest $8 – $10,000 with all the proceeds going to upgrade the outdoor basketball court backboards and rims next to the Kekuaokalani gym. There are 3 full courts with 6 antiquated backboard and rim goals, which are ready to be upgraded and modernized into regulation size and a longer lasting system that benefit all participants.

“A complete individual glass backboard system, with break-a-way rims and backboard padding costs between $900 and $1,300 each”. Said Andy Smith, Director of Hawaii Island Hoops. “We want to replace all 6 and improve the quality of our outdoor basketball courts here in Kona”.

“We know that not only have our programs grown each year with Hawaii Island Hoops, but our local youth population is also increasing and we need our public facilities to reflect and accommodate that in a more modern way”.

Tax-deductible donations for this project can be made in any amount and quantity. Donations can be made online at www.hawaiiislandhoops.com or checks can be made out to Hawaii Island Hoops Inc. P.O. Box 5221 Kailua-Kona, HI 96745.
