Warriors volleyball intrasquad scrimmage in Waiakea (Nov. 17)

MEDIA RELEASE

The University of Hawaii Warrior volleyball team will play an intrasquad scrimmage 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17 at Waiakea High School.

There will be no admission charge for the scrimmage, but donations can be made to the American Heart Association on behalf of former UH swimmer and Waiakea graduate Peter “Frank” Chi who passed away last month.

“This is a great opportunity to showcase our team to fans on the Big Island,” said UH Head Coach Charlie Wade. “I’m glad we have this chance for fans outside of Oahu to see what we hope will be an entertaining brand of volleyball.”

Players and coaches also will be available for autographs following the match.

Wade enters his fourth season at the helm of the men’s volleyball team and brings with him a veteran group of players. He and the Warriors are hoping to make a return to the MSPF Tournament this coming season.

Hawaii opens the season by traveling to BYU for a pair of matches on Jan. 4-5, 2013.
