One of the most impressive luxury estates on the Big Island’s Kohala Coast will be featured in an upcoming episode of HGTV’s Million Dollar Rooms.

According to network officials, the show is scheduled to air Oct. 30, although the airing date is subject to change.

Featuring Asian architecture and fine Balinese antiques, the luxurious 1.3-acre property is named Hale Ku Mana, or “House of Spiritual Strength.”

It features 10,056 square feet of opulent living space with 5 bedrooms and 5 1/2 baths and an office in the master suite.

Currently on the market for $13.5 million, the property is listed exclusively by Beverly Molfino, R(S) of Hawaii Life Real Estate Brokers.

It’s the first time a home in Hawaii is being featured on the television program. The property caught the attention of the show’s producers with its striking indoor-outdoor living spaces, six ponds, and walkways featuring rare natural materials.

It wasn’t just any film crew either. Nate Harrington, executive producer for the show, filmed the house himself – a rarity for an executive producer.

Harrington’s job is to travel the world viewing some of the most expensive real estate on the planet (it’s common to see $20 million, $30 million, even $100 million homes on the show.) So it really meant something to have Harrington say he was impressed with this Hualalai property.

The HGTV team spent the day filming inside and outside the home, although they focused on the master suite with its incredible master bath.

It’s not the first time that national media have taken interest in this home’s luxury master suite. The master bathroom was recently featured in Forbes magazine for having one of the most amazing master bathrooms in the country.

The home’s designer/builder, CF Turley, was interviewed on camera about the high-quality finishes used throughout the home.

The HGTV crew was also very interested in the native Hawaiian plants featured in the indoor/outdoor bathrooms and the rest of the property. More than 30 native Hawaiian and endangered plants are integrated into the landscape of the property.

Several plants are Kumulipo plants, meaning they have significant importance in Hawaiian culture and are described in detail in the Hawaiian creation chant.
