Ironman 2012 schedule of events, road closures

Ironman Triathlon World Championship blasts off Saturday, Oct. 13.

Nearly 2,000 athletes will be supported by more than 5,000 volunteers and cheered by thousands of spectators.

Not on the official schedule, but a popular Ironman week event is the Underpants Run. It is slated to begin 8 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 11 in front of Pacific Vibrations across from Hulihee Palace.

The event raises funds for Visitor Aloha Society Hawaii and Ahuena Heiau with the participants kicking in a $20 donation.

Tuesday, Oct. 9
8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Ironman Race Office – KBH
9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Athlete Registration Check-In – KBH Ballrooms 2, 3, 4
9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Official Ironman Store – KBH
4 p.m. Keiki Dip-n-Dash – Kailua Pier (registration in the Race Office from 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m. and on the pier starting at 3 p.m.)
5 p.m. Ironman Parade of Nations (athletes gather at 4 p.m.) – Kailua Pier to Hale Halawai, Alii Drive
