Hospice of Hilo adult grief support group

MEDIA RELEASE

Each Tuesday at 10a.m. Oct. 2 to Nov. 6, Hospice of Hilo is sponsoring The Healing Journey, a free of charge, six-week adult grief support group.

The class will combine group support, education and the development of coping skills, in a safe and confidential setting.

“To be alive is to experience loss and as a result of these losses, we grieve. The journey of grief is hard work and is often eased by the support of others,” said Hospice of Hilo Community Bereavement Counselor, Cathy Hough.

According to participant Marion Kittelson-Villanueva, “Hospice of Hilo’s six week bereavement program helped me to gain unexpected insights into coping with the recent loss of my husband. Shared experiences of other’s grief strengthened me. We gave compassion and hope to each other. I shared thoughts and feelings and my classmates did the same. I’m better off today because I took the time to really address my personal loss and feelings.”
