Hilo Intermediate earns $10,000 in ‘Gear Up and Give Back’

MEDIA RELEASE

By garnering the largest number of community votes, Hilo Intermediate will receive $10,000 through the Mobi PCS “Gear Up and Give Back” program to support island schools statewide.

As second- and third-place winners, Maui and Castle High Schools will each receive donations of $5,000.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to give back to our local students and teachers with the Gear Up and Give Back program,” said Bill Jarvis, president and CEO of Mobi PCS. “Hilo Intermediate, Maui High and Castle clearly have significant community support, and we hope that the donations will help them advance the great programs each has to offer.”

The schools will receive their donations in presentations on their respective campuses in the coming weeks.

Between mid-July and Aug. 31, members of the community were invited to visit any of the 12 Mobi PCS stores statewide to vote for their favorite local elementary, middle or high school using a custom-designed Mobi Gear Up and Give Back web application.

In addition to all Mobi retail stores, 30 of the company’s authorized dealers were also Gear Up and Give Back voting locations.

No purchase was necessary. The program was opening to all local public, charter, parochial or private schools.
