Fire/rescue crews responded to a 5:46 p.m. alarm Monday (Aug 20) to Kawaihae Road near the 61 mile marker for a crash between a semi-truck and a compact sedan.

The driver of the semi-truck was able to get out of his vehicle while the compact sedan driver was trapped in his car with multiple injuries.

Crews were able to free the driver of the sedan and medic units transported both patients, a 60 year-old man and 22 year-old man to North Hawaii Community Hospital.
