Lady Vulcans gain three outside hitters for volleyball squad

MEDIA RELEASE

Outside hitters Joshell Lilio (Castle High School/Kaneohe, HI), Bria Morgan (Soquel HS/Santa Cruz, CA) and Abbey Wade (Roseville HS/Roseville, CA) will be joining the University of Hawaii at Hilo volleyball program.

“They add some size and versatility to our program,” said UH Hilo Head Coach Tino Reyes. “This improves our overall athleticism.”

Lilio, a 6-foot freshman, earned all-league honors and was a 2011 USA High Performance Gold Medalist.

“Joshell is a big reason that the Aloha region won the 2011 High Performance,” said Reyes. “She has the ability to be the type of player that all-American Hillary Hurley was for us.”

Morgan, a 5-11 freshman, was an all-conference and all-Northern California selection. She played for the Main Beach Volleyball Club in Santa Cruz CA.

“She has great ball handling skills,” said Reyes. “Bria will give us some much need ball control and some hitting versatility … front row as well as back row hitting.”

Wade, a 5-11 junior, started for Western Nebraska junior College.

“Abbey was recommended by a former player that played on the UH Manoa men’s team,” said Reyes. “She was also a club teammate of Oliva Lane and we think Abbey will be an outstanding player for us.”
