Paving slated for Gilbert Carvalho Park (July 16)

The new parking lot at Hilo’s Gilbert Carvalho Park will be closed temporarily starting Monday, July 16, so a Department of Parks and Recreation crew can pave the driveway entrance.

In-house paving work is estimated to last one week, weather permitting, to provide time for the new asphalt to cure and the fresh striping to dry.

Once work is finished, the parking lot will be reopened. Stalls near the park’s gym will remain available for public use during the construction phase.

The Department of Parks and Recreation wishes to thank park users for their patience and understanding while the improvement is being made.
