By Hawaii 24/7 Staff

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has extended the high surf advisory for East facing shores of the Big Island until 6 a.m. Saturday (July 14).

Surf is forecast to be in the six to 10 foot range with locally higher sets. Anyone in or near the ocean should use caution due to rough surf, dangerous rip currents and localized beach erosion.

A small craft advisory is in effect until 6 a.m. Sunday (July 15) for Maalaea Bay, Pailolo and Alenuihaha Channels, Big Island leeward and Southeast waters.

A small craft advisory until 6 p.m. Saturday is in effect for Kaiwi Channel, Maui County windward and leeward waters along with Big Island windward waters.
